Practical Fundamentals of HAZID and HAZOP
How to participate confidently in hazard identification and risk assessment studies and make a meaningful contribution to team sessions
A practical introductory course for professionals who participate, or are preparing to participate, in HAZID and HAZOP studies. Participants will learn the difference between a hazard and a risk, understand how multidisciplinary study teams work, and explore the purpose of guidewords, safeguards and recommendations. They will then practise identifying hazards and developing clear, effective risk-reduction measures using accessible industry-based examples.
Process Safety Management (PSM)
How to identify weaknesses in the system before they contribute to a major accident
A practical overview of the key elements of Process Safety Management for technical professionals and managers. Through real-life and adapted case studies, participants will explore the links between major accident hazards, risk assessment, Bow-Tie analysis, Safety Critical Elements (SCEs), asset integrity and Management of Change (MOC). The course goes beyond introducing PSM terminology. It helps participants understand where organisations typically lose control of process safety risks and what questions managers and engineers need to ask to verify that risks are being managed effectively.
